Who is an Evangelist?

August 18, 2014

In concluding his trip to Korea, in an address to a group of 70 Asian bishops, Pope Francis again reminds us who the evangelist is supposed to be, and not be.  He indicates that evangelization is not about us, it is about introducing someone to Jesus Christ.  He again cites Pope Emeritus XVI and the latter's distinction between proselytism and evangelism (see our other post on this) in insisting that evangelization is not about bringing the other person to us, but to Jesus Christ.

It is important for every Christian to recognize the part he plays in evangelization and what this means in his daily life and in his encounters with other.  For more on this, take a look at our article on the New Evangelization and the New Evangelizers.
